Tasmania Hobart day 2

Started the day with drive to top of Mount Wellington. It was a little misty but smoke had cleared. There are bush fires in north west of island and you coukd see and smell the smoke when we arrived. We had great views of Hobart.
The Hobart market was great, lots of food stalls & quirky jewellery. Tried wallebie pie. Felt bad as The animals look so gentle.
There was a great exhibition on the Aboriginie people. They had lived on this island for 25,000 years before being invaded in early 1800's and being hunted from the land. Some of the quotes on what they said impressed me and I'm attaching photo's. There was one teeshirt which said "We di nit celebrate invasion day". There are big celebrations here on 26th January for Australia Day (similiar to Kings birthday in NL), but Aboriginal people call it Invasion Day. The story of how they were treated dies not make pleasant reading, they were treated worse than animals while they had been here for so many years before Europeans arrived.
