Arrived in Hong Kong on Saturday, 2 January. It was great to move freely & breath fresh air again. It was an easy taxi ride to Simon & Stef's place where I met Anna. They have a great place in Sai Kung, close to village & beaches and surrounded by green hills.
We took a sampan ride the next day, there are lots of little islands in the bay. Later we went to the Ladies market where there is a big trade in copy handbags & watches. Simon & Stef cooked a great dinner in the evening. Next day, Anna had arranged tickets for "hop on/hop off bus tour of Hong Kong. Hong Kong seems to be made up of hundreds of towers where the people live. The Peak tram & view from the top were amazing. It was strange seeing all the street signs in Chinese & English for places I had read about, like Kowloon & Happy Valley. The views on the bus ride to Stanley are beautiful. It's such an amazing mix of hundreds of very high towers, green hills & beaches. It was not at all what I had expected. The Chinese & European cultures appear to live comfortably side by side.
On our last day we had a Chinese massage. When we came out, it was bucketing down & we got soaked. We had lunch in Chinese restaurant on the waterfront. The fish were kept alive in seperate tanks, hugh variety & some were enormous about 1.5 meters long.
I really appreciated Simon & Stef's hospitality. Anna, my best Australian friend & Simon's mum has the questionable pleasure of my company for quite a few weeks & has made so many of the arrangements for this trip is still holding on.

Eagerly awaiting next installment! All sounds amazing. Meanwhile in Holland it is still very mild (around 8 deg C) and rather quiet on the Roerdomplaan... you are well into your second week... how is the tan doing? This blog set-up is great, isn't it? Greetings from Aalsmeer.
